Scanning with the camera

By Millesime Labs

When the phone allows the camera, the walk is the live video. A tile clears only after the server has stored that picture.

camera

When the phone allows the camera, the live video is the walk. The screen draws the parcel grid over that video. It does not invent the grid: the outline and the stored positions decide the tiles.

What you see

Tiles within 60 m in front of the camera are drawn on the ground.

  • An unseen tile is pale.
  • A seen tile shows the ground, with only its edge kept.
  • A tile cut by the outline is drawn as its pieces.
  • The target is stronger, with a ring at its center. It is the unseen tile a shot from here would cover. If that tile is already seen, the target is the nearest unseen tile, with an arrow and the distance.
  • A pending tile is half filled, with a dashed edge: the picture is still on the phone.
  • A failed tile has a red edge. Retry sends the same picture again.
  • A counter names how many tiles are done, and a small north-up map sits in a corner.

The ring fills over 1.2 seconds while the target stays in the frame and the phone is steady. At full, it takes the picture. A tap takes it at once.

The crop's instruction is the same line as on the map walk. Outside the outline, a red mark shows the distance.

When a tile clears

A tile clears only when the server has stored the picture for that shot. A tap, a full ring, or the request leaving the phone does not clear it. If the pose is stored without the picture, the tile stays and Retry comes back.

A frame is refused before it is sent when the camera looks less than 12 degrees below the horizon, or when the picture is flat or blurred. A short vibration and a tone mark a clear. Both can be turned off at the top right.

Phone GPS is about 3 to 5 m, and a tile is 4 m. The screen does not pretend the fix is finer. The target snaps to the tile the server will mark seen.

If the connection drops

Shots wait on the phone and go out one at a time, in the order they were taken. A lost connection leaves the shot pending. The screen says it is offline and sends again when the phone is back online.

Pause stops the camera and the sensors and keeps the shots. Resume reopens the same walk. Finish waits until every shot still on the phone has been sent, then closes the walk.

Opening the walk reads every position already stored on the parcel, from earlier walks and from the Mini 4 Pro. A second walk shows only the tiles left.

If the phone refuses the camera, the map walk stays: the guide map, Scan here, and a point stored without a picture.
